CJCLDS Laoag Meetinghouse

Completed in 1989, the Laoag Meetinghouse for the LDS (Latter-Day Saints) became the start-up project for our professional relationship that would last for over two decades.

The high water table and the sunken elevation of a large portion of the project site mandated the need for an earth fill. This would guarantee that: (1) should the building drainage be compromised, the ground floor would not be inundated during the occurrence of continuous rains; (2) the upward rise of water from the ground will be kept in check by raising the building elevation and the provision of a protective water barrier below the main floor slab of the whole building; (3) the whole structure would be higher in elevation than the adjoining roads. The fill will serve as a podium for the edifice, making the structure look more imposing than if it were at a "normal" elevation.

With this first involvement with the Church, the RGC&A team was exposed to the internal workings of a client with the most stringent standards. Through our dedication in coping with the high expectations of the Church, we have continually assimilated into our office Method of Operation (MO), the fine art of being professionally responsive to the constant demand for excellence on the job.
